Night fever - Baby 2 years

Case History

Baby Jen's mum has been sleepless for two nights because her baby temperature goes up at night and would reach 39 degrees C. During the day, paracetamol prescribed by the GP kept temperature at bay but, during the night it would rise again.

When I saw baby Jen, she was clingy, a bit grumpy and wingy. She was still having low grade fever despite her medication.

Prescription

Diagnostics highlighted deficiency+ heat and the point prescription used was LI 4 , LI 11 then moxa on ST 36.

She did not even cry when the needles were used in LI 4 and LI 11 she just emitted a mild complain. The needles were manipulated for around 10 seconds and removed.

Smokeless moxa was then used on ST 36.

The mother also had a prescription ST 36 then moxa on ST 36 and Ren 6 for Qi tonification.  Baby Jen watch with interest whilst her mum was having acupuncture treatment.

As soon as the treatment was finished baby Jen mood and face changed. She seemed happy and playfull again. She started to play in the room whilst I was giving aftercare advice to her mother.

Baby Jen temperature stabilized, her fever disapeared and she went to nursery the next day.
