Depression - Female 43

Case History

Miss B. 43 is a consultant specialised in mediation. Some recent life event triggered very unpleasant memories of events that happened in the past.  A friend who had had acupuncture treatment for depression sent her for treatment.  When she came for a consultation she could not finish a sentence without starting to cry. She said that she hated herself, had feelings of destruction felt that there were walls around her and she cold not see far. She felt hepless and hopeless. She would feel better when she went to the countryside and had green around her but the stress and pressure of her day to day life was dragging her down. She felt lost, without vision and full of guilt  and shame.

She had an interview for a job in less than one week and she wanted to perform well and not cry during the interview. She also felt that she did not even have enough energy or motivation to drag herself to the interview it seems such a daunting task.

Her breathing was very shallow and, when asked to take a deep breath, she found it difficult.  She also had loose stools and acid regurgitation.

Prescription

For the first treatment  the 4 gates were used to move the Qi, GB 37 was added to give an inner vision. Ren 17 was used to unbind the chest and St 36 and Sp 6 to boost her energy  (tnify Qi and Blood). Lu 7 and K 6 were used to open the conception vessel.

Treatment Frequency

Two treatments separated by one week.

Outcome

After the first treatment, the patient reported that she was not crying so easily, she went to the interview and got the job.

She came for a second treatment and felt that she was well enough to function normally.
